Louis
Hernandez, Jr.
Chairman of the Board & Chief Executive Officer
Louis Hernandez, Jr. is the chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Open Solutions Inc., a leading provider of enterprise-wide enabling technologies for financial institutions. Open Solutions went private in January 2007 with a transaction value of $1.3 billion. Open Solutions has been named one of the 25 Fastest-Growing Technology Companies of 2006 by Forbes Magazine and in 2007 was ranked number two on the Bank Technology News 10 Technology Companies To Watch report. It has been named to the Connecticut Technology Council’s Fast 50; the Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 500; and American Banker and Financial Insights’ FinTech 100. These organizations recognize leading companies in the technology sector for outstanding sales growth.
As chairman and chief executive officer, Mr. Hernandez is responsible for Open Solutions’ overall corporate vision, strategic and operational direction, short and long-range strategic initiatives and future growth strategies. In addition to leading all aspects of the company, he directs all ongoing interactions with Open Solutions’ board of directors, investor community, and the company’s client base.
He has held senior positions at several high technology companies, and began his career at Price Waterhouse LLP.
Mr. Hernandez currently serves on the board of directors of HSBC North America Holdings Inc., the North American holding company for the consumer lending arm and principal banking subsidiaries in the U.S. and Canada of one of the largest banking and financial services organizations in the world. He also serves on the board of directors of HSBC USA Inc., an indirectly-held wholly-owned subsidiary of HSBC North America Holdings Inc. and one of the 10 largest bank holding companies in the U.S. by assets, and its principal subsidiary, HSBC Bank USA, N.A. Mr. Hernandez is a current member of the board of directors of Avid Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: AVID), a publicly-traded company and worldwide leader in providing tools for film, video, audio, 3D animation, gaming and broadcast professionals, as well as Unica Corporation (Nasdaq: UNCA),a publicly-traded company and leading global provider of enterprise marketing management software and services.
Mr. Hernandez is a recognized technology executive having been appointed by the Governor of Connecticut to be vice chair of the Governor’s Council on Economic Competitiveness and Technology as a business representative with expertise in information technology. Mr. Hernandez chaired the Technology Transfer Advisory board set up by the Governor’s Council to develop strategies for technology transfer and commercialization in the state, is the past chairman of the Connecticut Technology Council and the former vice chair of the Commission for Educational Technology, where he recently completed a three-year appointment issued by the Governor.
Mr. Hernandez is active in several community issues, including serving as a member of the board of trustees of the Connecticut Center for Science & Exploration, a statewide cultural, entertainment and educational institution; a board member of the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, an organization dedicated to improving the physical and emotional health of children; and a corporator of the Eastern Connecticut Health Network Inc. (ECHN), a not-for-profit hospital and health system network. In 2008, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation named Mr. Hernandez the 2008 Community Leader of the Year to honor of all his contributions to the community. In addition, he was appointed as the "Distinguished Business Executive” in Residence at Eastern Connecticut State University for the 2008-2009 academic year. This appointment by the Dean and Board of Trustees of the Connecticut State University System gives recognition to his exemplary contributions and achievements in the field of business, his contributions to society and his commitment to inspiring others.
Mr. Hernandez is a past recipient of the Hartford Business Journal’s Business Person of the Year and has been named one of the Hartford Business Journal's top executives under 40 and was an Ernst & Young New England Entrepreneur of the Year finalist. He was also named one of the financial service industry’s five most innovative leaders, a 2007 Innovator of the Year and inducted into the Leadership Hall of Fame by Bank Technology News, a national financial services publication.
Mr. Hernandez has had several articles published by leading journals and speaks regularly on the topics of technology, economics, strategic planning and globalization.
Mr. Hernandez is also very involved in all levels of soccer. Along with playing in his own league, he is a licensed premier and travel club youth soccer coach. He is also a part-owner of the Boston Breakers, a women's professional soccer team. The Boston Breakers are one of the eight teams in the newly reformed Women's United Soccer Association.
Stephen Cameron, President
Stephen Cameron joins Open Solutions as president. He is responsible for overseeing Open Solutions’ day-to-day tactical operations, processes and company-wide organizational efficiencies.
Cameron brings to Open Solutions more than 20 years of experience leading technology and services-based organizations. He joins Open Solutions from Siemens IT Solutions and Services, Inc., a global end-to-end provider of solutions and services in information and communications technology, where he served as Chief Operating Officer of North American Outsourcing Services. In that role, he was responsible for the entire North American Managed Services business unit including full P&L responsibility of approximately $700 million, management of more than 5,000 employees as well as the management and support of key Fortune 500 U.S. and Global clients. In 2000, Siemens’ acquired ENTEX Information Services, where Cameron held the position of Senior Vice President of National Services and was responsible for all aspects of the company’s managed and operational services portfolio. He was also responsible for all North American Service personnel and service operations. Prior to ENTEX, he was with Businessland for seven years before its merger with JWP, which through a management buyout led to the formation of ENTEX.
In addition to his experience in various technical service environments, he has a long record of successes in process re-engineering, consulting, and managing and selling service solutions for the Fortune 500. Cameron earned an ASEE in Electronics Engineering and has been a former member of the Service Executive Councils of Apple, HP and IBM.
Sam Boggs
Executive Vice President Group Operations
Sam Boggs joins Open Solutions from Siemens IT Solutions where he served as the Managing VP of Global Operations. He was responsible for all infrastructure delivery services and managed a team of 4,000 employees who provided desk side support, customer care, network services and data center services to their entire North American customer base.
Sam is a seasoned business executive with more than 20 years of demonstrated experience in operations, contact center, IT outsourcing services, client care operations management, implementations and business process management. He is responsible for Open Solutions’ overall client experience including the key functions of Client Care, Data Center Services and Professional Services (including Implementations).
Additionally, Sam has held other executive management positions with RDI Marketing, a full-service marketing firm specializing in outbound direct marketing and market research solutions; Digitas, which provides end-to-end technology and operations consulting for contact management; Synchorony Communications, an electronic customer relationship management services organization; First Data Corporation, a leading provider of electronic commerce and payment solutions; and Convergys, a global outsourcing, consulting and software company.
Roswell (Ross) M. Curtis
Group Executive Vice President, North America
Ross Curtis joined
Open Solutions from GXS, where he was senior vice president
of Global Sales, a member of the management committee and responsible
for a 200-person global sales force. Prior
to GXS, Mr. Curtis served as executive vice president for Worldwide
Sales at BearingPoint (formerly KPMG Consulting), a position
he held since February 2000. Prior to that position, Mr. Curtis
was managing partner in charge of Sales at KPMG Consulting from
1997 until February 2000. He joined KPMG Consulting in June 1996
as director, Business Development, and was elected partner in
1997. From 1993 to 1996, Mr. Curtis served as vice president
of Worldwide Field Sales Operations for Mergent International,
a company providing security software for PCs. Prior to this,
he spent three years working for Oracle holding the positions
of group director for Strategic Alliances, group sales director
for the utility vertical, and regional sales manager. From 1983
to 1988, Mr. Curtis worked for Applied Data Research (ADR) progressing
from account manager to area sales vice president. Mr. Curtis
holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Franklin & Marshall
College.
Rashid Desai
Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer
Rashid Desai joined Open Solutions in May 2007 as senior vice president and chief technology officer. He is responsible for overseeing Open Solutions’ worldwide product development efforts. Mr. Desai joins Open Solutions from Equifax, where he was senior vice president of technology responsible for leading the development of business and consumer data products and platforms for B2B and B2C customers. In his previous role at Equifax, he was responsible for setting up a Global Project Management Office, which established an application portfolio based project planning and management methodology for technology. Additionally, Desai was responsible for setting up the Global Development Center program for Equifax by establishing software development centers across the globe. Prior to joining Equifax, he was director of technology at Fujitsu Consulting, leading enterprise solution delivery for its clients.
David Mitchell
Senior Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer
Mr. Mitchell joined Open Solutions in February of 2000 and brings more than 18 years of domestic and international high technology venture experience to the company. As Senior Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer, Dave is responsible for strategically directing Open Solutions’ global product management, domestic and international alliances, and all corporate and product marketing efforts.
Since joining Open Solutions, Mr. Mitchell has held various positions responsible for full profit and loss management, strategic direction, growth initiatives, and operations for all of Open Solutions’ product lines. Prior to joining Open Solutions, Mr. Mitchell held various executive positions at publicly-traded enterprise software companies servicing the financial services sector.
Mr. Mitchell has received several awards from the American Management Association, the Harvard Law School Consortium and the Center for Creative Leadership. Most recently, Mr. Mitchell was named one of the Top Forty Under Forty executives in Connecticut by the Hartford Business Journal.
Mr. Mitchell received a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from Central Connecticut State University and earned his certificate of Special Studies in Administration and Management from Harvard University. Mr. Mitchell also serves on the board of the Connecticut Technology Council and is an Executive Chair for the Technology Accelerator Program.
Greg O'Brien
Senior Vice President, Human Resources
Greg joined Open Solutions in 2004. He has more than 20 years' executive level experience in international human resources and operations in both public and private firms. His broad range of functional executive experience includes human resources, business strategy, realignment, finance, project management, M&As and IPOs. Before joining Open Solutions, Greg was VP, Human Resources, Worldwide, at Mercator Software Inc, a public international business integration software solutions company. Prior to Mercator, Greg served as VP Operations and Chief Administrative Officer for the international group of CSK Corporation, a large Japanese software and services company.
Greg holds an MBA in Management from Pace University, New York.
Thomas N. Tartaro
Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary
Tom Tartaro leads the company’s Legal Department and is responsible for overseeing the company's worldwide legal affairs including mergers & acquisitions, corporate financing, intellectual property, litigation and strategic alliances. He is also responsible for Open Solutions’ corporate governance and the internal audit and compliance functions. Mr. Tartaro joined Open Solutions in 2001. Since joining the company, he has overseen the company’s Initial Public Offering in 2003, Follow-on Offering in 2004, Senior Subordinated Convertible Notes Offering in 2005 and 18 acquisitions and related debt financings including the Company's go-private transaction in January 2007.
Prior to joining Open Solutions, Mr. Tartaro was in private practice in the Washington, D.C. area, starting in the Washington D.C. offices of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Leiby & MacRae LLP and Preston Gates & Ellis LLP. Tom holds a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School and a B.A. in Political Science from Hofstra University.

Tim Clewley
Senior Vice President & GM, Banking Group
Tim joined Open Solutions in January 2007. He brings more than 20 years of sales and sales management experience to his position. Prior to joining Open Solutions, Tim spent seven years as SVP of sales at P&H Solutions, Inc., the leading provider of Web-based corporate cash management solutions. His focus was on strategic account planning and long term business relationships.
Prior to taking responsibility for the Banking Group, Tim’s focus at Open Solutions was to grow the client base for our expanding suite of complementary products through sales to both core and non-core clients, as well as through channel relationships. He worked closely with the Strategic Solutions Group, IPTG and Corporate Financial Services.
Blair Goulet,
Senior Vice President & GM, Credit Union Group and President, Open Solutions Canada
Mr. Goulet joined Open Solutions in mid-2005 as the president of Open Solutions Canada. His responsibilities were expanded in 2008 to include the credit union market for the United States. Prior to Open Solutions, Mr. Goulet was with Solcorp, a financial services software division of EDS, where he spent four years in various senior executive positions. Most recently he held the position of senior vice president of Strategy and Operations. In this role, he was responsible for corporate strategy, product strategy, corporate marketing, HR, finance and operations. Mr. Goulet’s previous experience also includes more than 15 years of various senior management positions at Xerox Corporation and the vice presidency of sales and marketing for a public wireless data communications software and solutions company.
Mr. Goulet holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan and has completed executive and non-degree programs at The Wharton School, Kellogg Graduate School of Management and the University of Chicago Graduate Business School.
Mr. Goulet is active in the community and has sat on the boards of such organizations as Ronald McDonald House and Junior Achievement.
David O’Malley
SVP and GM, SSG, IPTG and CFS
David O’Malley joined Open Solutions in 2008 as the VP, national sales manager overseeing the sales arm of The Complete Credit Union Solution®: sme (Standard Market Edition). In 2009, David was promoted to SVP and GM of Open Solutions’ Strategic Solutions Group (SSG), Imaged Payment Technologies Group (IPTG) and Corporate Financial Services (CFS).
David’s broad industry background includes roles in executive management, senior sales management, channel management, change management, Top 100 FI solution sales, business process outsourcing, strategic planning, financial control, Chapter 11 reorganization and corporate banking. Prior to joining Open Solutions, David spent three years in various leadership roles within Metavante Technologies Inc’s (MV:NYSE) central sales organization most recently as vice president, senior managing director and a corporate officer within the Enterprise Sales Group.
Prior to joining Metavante, O’Malley served as vice president of sales for TREEV, LLC., an independent software development company later acquired by the Metavante Corporation. During his 10 years with TREEV, O'Malley served as vice president of sales for the Emerging Business Group he formed serving large national financial services firms. |
